Assess your consumption

We start with your building and existing heating to estimate your needs.

Understand the investment

We consider the heat pump, necessary work and potential grants.

01

A free first conversation

Tell me how you heat your home today and what you want to improve. Initial advice by phone is free.

02

Assess the solution

During the site visit we check the building, radiators, hot water, location and noise.

03

Quote and installation

Your installer defines the quote and work. Supply and installation are handled by a qualified installer.

04

YGNIS service

YGNIS handles commissioning and service according to the provisions in the quote.

Before ordering and starting work

Permits and subsidies: following the right sequence avoids unpleasant surprises.

During the site visit, we look beyond the unit itself. We also clarify the municipal procedure, technical documents and subsidy application.

Procedures and subsidies: all the steps
01

Clarify the procedure

Check with the municipality whether the project requires notification, authorisation or a building permit, and which documents must be submitted.

02

Prepare the documents

The location, heat pump specifications, noise information, technical data sheet and quotation must all refer to the same project and configuration.

03

Apply for the subsidy

In Ticino, the complete application must be submitted before work starts. Ordering and installation proceed only after the necessary decisions have been received.

General information based on guidance from Canton of Ticino – energy subsidies. The final procedure depends on the project and the competent authorities.

What we assess together

The heat pump should suit the property, not the other way round.

A good solution considers the building, existing system, habits and goals together.

What we check during the site visit

Building and insulation

Size, heat loss, year of construction and improvements already carried out.

Radiators or underfloor heating

Required temperatures and compatibility with the existing heat distribution system.

Output and consumption

An initial assessment of heating demand, avoiding systems chosen simply out of habit.

Costs and subsidies

An indication of the investment required and the points to check for available subsidies.

Hot water and usage

Number of occupants, habits, existing storage tank and desired comfort throughout the year.

Position and noise

Available space, distances, neighbouring properties, sound reflections and access for maintenance.

Two solutions to consider

AirCalor and ADAPT 2

After the site visit, we assess which solution suits the building, existing system and your family's needs.

Why choose R290

Why we recommend outdoor monobloc units with natural R290 refrigerant

When choosing a heat pump, look beyond the initial price: the refrigerant, noise levels, build quality and long-term support all matter.

The AirCalor and ADAPT 2 solutions presented here use R290, a natural refrigerant with a very low climate impact. This choice is consistent with evolving Swiss refrigerant regulations.

In a monobloc configuration, the refrigerant circuit is contained within the outdoor unit: the connection to the home's heating system is hydraulic, with no refrigerant pipes between the outdoor and indoor units.

During the site visit, we assess the required output, desired room temperature, positioning and noise reaching neighbouring properties. This helps us choose a solution suited to your home, backed by YGNIS service support.

Compare the solutions

AirCalor G-17 or ADAPT 2 M: similar output, tangible differences.

For reference, the YGNIS technical table lists 12,5 kW for AirCalor G-17 and 12,8 kW for ADAPT 2 M, both at A-7/W35.

Frequently asked questions

Initial answers, even before the site visit.

Every building is different, but some checks are always essential.

How much noise will it make near my home?

A catalogue figure alone is not enough: model, location, distances and reflections from façades matter. We assess the proposed location and the necessary acoustic checks.

Does it also provide domestic hot water?

We can assess hot water production too. The solution and cylinder need to suit the number of people, usage patterns and existing system.

Who removes the old boiler?

Boiler dismantling and any fuel tank removal should be specified in the installer’s quote along with the other required work. We clarify these points before you choose.

Who do I contact for service?

Your installer remains the contact for work on the installation; YGNIS services the heat pump under the agreed conditions. The service section explains the remote connection.

Do I have to replace my old heat pump from 2027?

No. The new refrigerant restrictions do not automatically require an existing heat pump to be replaced. The rules concern placing certain categories of new units on the market, with different deadlines depending on output, configuration and refrigerant.

Systems using refrigerant with a GWP below 2500 that were placed on the market before the relevant deadline can continue to be used, maintained and repaired. During the site visit, we can check your unit's refrigerant and assess when replacement would make sense.

FOEN information on refrigerants

Can a heat pump work with radiators?

Yes, it can. However, knowing that radiators are installed is not enough: we need to check whether every room receives sufficient heat at the intended flow temperature. Any adjustments may be limited to a few components.

Does the old boiler's output determine the new heat pump's output?

No. The boiler's output is historical information, not a reliable basis for sizing. Consumption, insulation, usage, hot water and heat distribution must all be reassessed together.

What is the real cost of replacement?

The cost involves more than the heat pump alone. Storage, plumbing, electrical work, installation, any removal of the boiler and tank, modifications and commissioning must all be considered.

When should I apply for the subsidy?

The application must be prepared before work begins, in line with the programme's conditions and the applicable building procedure. It is advisable to clarify these steps before ordering or starting work.

What should I prepare for the site visit?

If available: consumption records from recent years, photos of the plant room, boiler specifications, radiator or underfloor heating type, number of occupants and possible outdoor installation locations. Even incomplete documents are useful as a starting point.
